Andrei Sannikov Presented His Book In Canada

The presentation of Andrei Sannikov’s book "My Story. Belarusian Amerikanka or Elections Under Dictatorship" took place in two cities in Canada.

Toronto welcomed the European Belarus civil campaign leader, presidential candidate 2010 Andrei Sannikov at the Belarusian social and religious center on November 17, and the day before the politician met with the Belarusians of Ottawa.

Both meetings were organized by the Canadian Association of Belarusians.

At the meetings in Ottawa and Toronto Andrei Sannikov told about the situation in Belarus, the election campaign and the Square 2010 in Minsk, about the conditions of detention in the KGB jail and prisons in Belarus and answered numerous questions from the audience.

The meeting in Toronto was attended by Marcus Kolga, a member of the Central and Eastern European Council in Canada, a public activist and a journalist. He spoke about the Council’s work and gave recommendations to the Belarusian expatriate community to be more active and address the local authority representatives in order to have greater impact on the human rights situation in Belarus.

Chairman of the Canadian Association of Belarusians Dzmitry Elyashevich presented the politian and the author of the book to the Belarusians of Toronto and congratulated Sannikov with the nomination for Jerzy Giedroyc award granted by the famous Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
