Makei: Foreign Policies Of Belarus, Russia Remain Aligned

The Foreign Minister has acknowledged that Lukashenka's regime always coordinates its actions with Moscow.

The foreign policy approaches of Russia and Belarus agree on almost all issues. This has been stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Uladzimir Makei during the joint session of the Foreign Ministries’ collegiums of Belarus and Russia, which is being held in Minsk, BelTA informs.

"The foreign policy approaches of Moscow and Minsk remain the same, similar, on practically all matters. We always coordinate our steps at the grounds of the United Nations and other international organizations ", — Uladzimir Makei has said.

The Minister has pointed out that the year that has elapsed since the previous meeting of the boards was extremely rich in international events, most of which were ambiguous and disturbing. "We all are increasingly faced with a shortage of willingness to compromise. In this situation, no one can feel secure,” — he has said. — We live in an interconnected world. New challenges and threats to some extent affected all countries, regardless of their size and position."

Uladzimir Makei has also noted that, despite some progress in the relations between Belarus and the EU, they remain far from normalization.

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that his country appreciates the fact that Belarus is expanding cooperation with Europe in view of its obligations under the EAEC and CSTO.

At the meeting, the parties will discuss cooperation between Belarus and Russia in the UN and other international organizations.

It is planned that the resolution of the collegiums of the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Russia, and the plan of consultations between the Ministries for the year 2017 will be signed as an outcome of the event.
