The regime of Belarus is a complete bankrupt.

One of the Belarusian opposition leaders Mikalai Statkevich told charter97.org on preparation of opposition protests on the day of the 20th anniversary of anti-constitutional coup in Belarus.

- The other day you and Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu notified the Minsk City Executive Committee of the event. Notified, but not asked for permission. What was the reaction of bureaucrats?

- There was one reason I could not see it. We considered that a personal visit would be too much for the people who had been appointed by an unwarranted power. The Executive Committee has a special mailbox and we put the notification in there. We could send it by mail, but decided that even a postage stamp cost money.

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu and me have fulfilled the decision of Rada of the Belarusian National Congress approved in September and confirmed in October. We took advantage of our constitutional rights, because there is no legitimate Parliament and legitimate legislation in Belarus. We should practice the constitutional norms that have survived unchanged 1996 year onwards, as well as the practice of our European region. It usually requires 5 days to notify before an event.

- Why is it essential to hold this action now?

- The thing is that Lukashenka totally captured the power 20 years ago. Ordinary countries has three branches of power: executive one is run by one institute of power, the legislative power belongs to the Parliament, and the judicial is under control of an independent judiciary.

This person has violated the oath. The legal change of power in Belarus has become implementable. To play "elections" with Lukashenka means to play under his rules. He controls the election process and never "draw" the lower percentage than he needs.

In fact, all public bodies have controlled by one person. This is not the Belarusian police, but the Lukashenka's one, this is Lukashenka's KGB, and his officials. He betrays people who believe they serve the state. Even their ranks sound as follows: Colonel of militia of Lukashenka. This is the situation he has led the country to.

And we can observe it now. He has been trading in pieces of our sovereignty for a while. He wanted to completely sell it in 1999, but we stopped him. Then he has started trading in pieces. And he has spent money for his bureaucrats and security agencies. But now this scheme does not work anymore. Our economy has already come up to point when competitiveness is impossible in all markets. Belarus is getting poorer; Belarusians leave abroad and agree to any work to survive somehow. And there is the only one person to blame.

We will not be able to do anything, if we ignore the protest. The authorities will keep thinking that it is normal. They will make people starve. Force is the only thing the authorities respect, and when you resist they stop. When they do not see rebuff, they keep requiring more and more.

If Belarusians want to survive as a nation, Lukashenka must be stopped. The first step is to show our discontent and desire of a normal state, power and an ability to change the current power.

And the things he shows the West - like "elections"- are for fools only, for ignoble people who pretend that some "peaceful changes" here are possible, that a "miracle" to happen and Lukashenka will not accept his re-election. This is a fairy tale for fools. And those who state it in Belarus and in the West are either clowns or provocateurs. They have recently got used to walk in "couples".

They do not deserve any attention. Of course, it would be easier if somehow we could peacefully change the situation in Belarus. But the reality is as follows: when the power in the country belongs to one person, he will never allow to be substituted. And those who are trying to drag us into the game either on a reason or not work for the regime.

This is a complex way to find courage and take the Square. This is the only way for changes in Belarus.

The action devoted to the 20th anniversary of the anti-constitutional coup starts on November 24, 6 pm, Svabody Square, Minsk. I do not think that the authorities will take any brutal steps: Lukashenka has no money. This economic and political model is a bankrupt, and he is forced to beg for money. Therefore, the authorities set their teeth will just observe our protest. There is no need to fear - the only way is to take the Square.

The Belarusians have to get rid of fear and say to Lukashenka: "It's enough! Bring back the thing stolen from us: our democracy, our normal power, because you've disgraced it. It's time for you, as they say, to swan off.
