The resident of Mahiliou promised he would set himself on fire near Poland’s Embassy in Minsk.

The police made a charge against resident of Mahiliou Uladzimitr Pashchanka who threatened he would set himself on fire near Poland’s Embassy to show his protest against the police’s inaction, Radio Liberty reports.

According to journalist Viachaslau Sikora, who arrived from Mahiliou together with Uladzimir Pashchanka, the authorized Minsk police officer also promised to inform his superiors about the fact that policemen in Mahiliou failed to fulfill legal demands of Pashchanka.

“He really had petrol to burn himself, but he postponed this action because there were few journalists and he still hoped they would listen to him,” – Viachaslau Sikora said.

During the picket, Pashchanka told the journalists that if he couldn’t find justice in Belarus, he would go to Moscow to burn himself there near the Belarusian Embassy.

Uladzimir Pashchanka disagrees with the fact that a man who injured him two years ago managed to get away with it. He is convinced that Mahiliou police were covering for him, and demands to start a criminal case against the policemen as well.

Shortly afterwards, Uladzimir Pashchanka was released from the police bus. He got into a car in which he drove to Minsk, and was going to start his way back home.

“The policemen said they had reported the problem to Mahiliou. This was yet another attempt to find justice,” – Pashhanka said.

Uladzimir Pashchanka sent letters describing his problem to Lukashenka’s Administration, as well as the Embassies of the United States, Germany, Poland and Great Britain. He chose to picket near the Polish Embassy because Poland is renown for its stiff policy regarding Lukashenka’s regime.
