Herein, the authorities claim they “appointed the cheapest senators and deputies.”

The Central Elections Commission approved the consolidated sheet of expenditures for preparation and holding the “elections” to the “national assembly” of the sixth convocation which passed on September 11, at the session on November 30, the BelaPAN news agency writes.

The actual expenditures for holding the “elections” amounted to Bn 19 million 129 thousand 509. Herein, they managed to “save” Bn 542 K from the planned sum of expenditures, and this amount will be returned to the budget.

Deputy Head of the department on maintaining the commission’s activity Valiantsina Vasileuskaya has informed that, for example, district elections commissions “saved” on printing informational materials, there was a great “saving” on communications, and “small” business trips allowances.

The CEC Chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna has called the “elections” to the council of republic the cheapest. Thuswise, the CEC spent only Bn 3,5 out of its expenditures for the conducting thereof, the total amount being Bn 2 540. It was just one business trip.

Mrs.Yarmoshyna has noted after they approved the financial report that it was the last thing the current CEC squad was supposed to do before their authorizations expire on December 19.

In correspondence with the Electoral Code, six members of the Central Elections Commission are appointed by Lukashenka, and six members are elected by the council of republic. According to Yarmoshyna, the council of republic is most likely to consider the issue of the CEC members’ appointment at their session on December 21.

As previously reported, Lidziya Yarmoshyna will stay at the position of the Chairperson of the Central Elections Commission for another term. The dictator already approved it.
