Local Authorities Threaten Babruisk Priest With KGB For Site Cleanup

The local authorities were scared by the fact that opposition activists helped the priest with the site clean-up.

Abbot of the Old Believer Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in the village of Bahushouka, Babruisk district Uladzimir Varabyou was threatened by the district executive committee with the KGB because the activists of the steering committee for creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” helped to clean the territory of the parish back in April.

“How could you allow this? This is a political party!” — they told me in the district executive committee. However, I don’t care whether they are a political party or not. What is so bad about them helping me to clean up?” — the Abbot has told to the krynica.info website.

In April, the BCD activists together with the local inhabitants cleaned the territory, took away the garbage, weeded and planted flowers, and nailed the trims at the territory of the Sunday school in the Old Believer parish in the village of Bahushouka.
