Lukashenka Is Really Annoyed By Total Failures

Analysts on the resignation of Kasinets.

Why Lukashenka has dismissed the leadership of his administration? Was it a surprise? Who can take this position?

The analyst Raman Yakauleuski believes, that this "cleaning was caused by dissatisfaction with the work of the administration, as well as by the need to strengthen the vertical power structure," Radio Svaboda reports.

"Though Kasinets is known as a hardline boss, he was unable to ensure the strengthening of the vertical power structure. I also note that we have seen no contacts at the level of the heads of the Kremlin administration. If it's really a union state, it would be logical if not only ministers held meetings, but also the heads of the administrations. Administration is considered to be the main headquarters of this or that president. The administration in Russia was renewed, modernists and even former Liberals came to power. While here the Soviet era still reigns. According to some sources, it's obvious that there will be certain changes in staff of the Belarusian television, which is the main propaganda tool. Consolidation of vertical power is needed because the crisis is not decreasing in the country. "

The political analyst Aliaksandr Klaskouski considers Lukashenka's personnel policy to be totally unpredictable and illogical.

"Lukashenka is very much annoyed by total failures on all fronts. He came back empty-handed from Moscow, the oil and gas issue is not resolved, foreign trade falls. This anger could have been poured upon the person, who was daily in his sight.

Such symptoms have already appeared several times before, when there were public reports about meetings of Lukashenka and Kasinets. Lukashenks asked the head of the Administration to generate fresh ideas. Which means that Lukashenka hopes that he will achieve something by shuffling this deck.

Let's see whom he will appoint. It's not a fact that the current Acting head of Administration Mr. Mitskevich will be appointed for the seat. He is not a public person, he is a narrow specialist, a lawyer. While here a wide range of problems should be solved.

The heads of Administration have always been actively coordinating election campaigns. But here the point is not in how to hold a new referendum from a technological point of view. Such versions are ridiculous. Lukashenka doesn't need to appoint Mitskevich the head of Administration to hold a referendum. Economic reforms are most needed today. (Political reforms are out of question as Lukashenka doesn't want to ruin his system.) At least some steps in line with the IMF requirements should be taken. Then, it would be logical to see such person as Kiryl Rudy as the head of Administration. But he was sent in honorable exile in China. This means that the reformers irritate Lukashenka even more than executors, who are of little use today, because the system itself has stalled, it is in low water. Nothing will change if Lukashenka nervously changes some screws in this system."
