Crackdown Of Katouka Park Defenders

On December 7, defenders of Katouka park noticed that Zelianstroi employees started to cut the trees again.

Approximately 20 employees of Zelianstroi were working in the park. Environmental activists and local residents tried to prevent this. It came to the use of physical force. Police officers were watching the fight from a distance and didn't interfere, Euororadio reports.

The cutting down of trees in the Katouka park began on December 6. The workers cut down two trees, but didn't manage to finish cutting down of one more tree. They had to stop under pressure of environmental activists and local residents.

It is planned to build a Catholic church in the park. It is planned to cut down 10% of the trees in the park to build the church.

Local residents suggested to find another place for the construction of the church.
