Worker Injured After Falling Down The Stairs At Belarusian NPP

One day ago, media reported, that a worker died after falling from the height, but the Belarusian NPP denied this information.

The Investigative Committee of Belarus has started to check into case of injure of a worker who had fallen down the stairs at the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Astravets district.

"We check into the accident that happened on the territory of NPP. On December 2, a worker stumbled on the stairs and fell down, which resulted in hip fracture and bruises. His life it is not in danger," – the official representative of the Hrodna department of the IC Siarhei Sharshanevich said.

One day ago the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party reported that a worker died at the Belarusian NPP.

In September of this year, the Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadzuk said that three people died at the construction site of the nuclear power plant at the site in Astravets over the time of its construction.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant, which is being constructed with participation of Russia in Hrodna region 50 km away from Vilnius, is supposed to consist of two VVER-1200 reactors with total capacity of up to 2400 MWe.

It is scheduled, that the first unit of the Belarusian NPP will be put into operation in 2019, the second – in 2020.
