Activists Plan To Hang Out 200 White-Red-White Flags

The “Young Front” wants to arrange a real white-red-white holiday.

This morning, the youth activists hanged out over two dozen white-red-white flags in the center of Minsk.

“We hanged out 23 white-red-white flags in the avenue, and my daughter Mara will hoist two more at home. It will make 25 in total – to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the USSR collapse. This action was aimed to coincide with the 25th anniversary since the Empire of Evil ceased existing. We wanted Minsk residents and the guests of the capital feel inspired and glad, watching the white-red-white flags waving over the avenue, when driving in the city,” – Zmitser Dashkevich has told Radio Liberty.

Dashkevich has clarified in a post on his Facebook page that initially it was planned to bring more flags but unknown people pinched the tires of the car which was supposed to deliver the flags.

“We didn’t orient on the figure 25, we wanted to hang out more flags. However, when Siarhei Palcheuski (the “Young Front” activist – editor) was about to leave for our out-of-city factory on sewing flags, he noticed all the four tires of his car had been pinched with a knife, with no hope of restoration. So we collected all the flags we had in our closets and hanged them out. Thus, it happened like this – 25 flags for the 25 years since the collapse of the Empire of Evil.”

The “Young Front” leader called for donating so that there would be more flags next time and the wonderful white-red-white holiday would turn out beautifully.

“If you want the “Young Front” activists to hang out not 25 but 100 or 200 flags next time, it’s necessary to donate for new tires and fabrics. The tires for the car are no less than $300, and Siarhei alone cannot afford that. Fabrics in the Central Department Store are also not for free. I am calling on everyone who can help us collect the money. If we all try really hard, I guarantee that next time we will carry out an amazing white-red-white holiday in Minsk!”
