Yesterday the Polish Sejm approved the candidacy of the new Ambassador of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pawlik.

The visit of Minister Witold Waszczykowski to Minsk, scheduled for the next month, is to be organized by the new Ambassador of Poland to Belarus. As expected it will be 39-year-old Konrad Pawlik, Radio Svaboda informs referring to the Polish media.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski introduced the Future Ambassador of Poland to Belarus in the Sejm Commission of Foreign Affairs of Poland. He found the full support of the deputies who were at the commission meeting.

Minister Waszczykowski characterized Konrad Pawlik as an experienced and professional diplomat. Speaking about the priorities of Polish policy towards Belarus, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs said:

“We would like to have an independent, sovereign and stable partner on the other side of the border who would also – which would be a dream – be governed by the rule of law.”

Konrad Pawlik noted that his first task is to arrange the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland to Minsk, which is scheduled in a few weeks.

Pawlik said he would support all the government and non-governmental organizations in their projects, addressed to the Polish minority in Belarus:

“I firmly believe that with good coordination and verified wise policy, we will be able to improve the situation of the Polish minority in small steps, without worsening the relations with the official Minsk.”

Konrad Pawlik was born in 1976 in Warsaw, he is a specialist in international political and economic relations, he studied at the Central School of Commerce in Warsaw and the University of Aarhus in Denmark. He worked in the presidential administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, speaks fluent English and Russian languages.
