Brest Sole Traders To Hold Protest Rally On February 14

Sole traders of Brest believe that street rallies should not been discontinued, and scheduled a meeting for February 19.

Such a decision was taken on Friday at a meeting of more than 200 sole traders of Brest, BelaPAN informs.

At the rally of February 19 sole traders are going to push for reversal of the Decrees №222 and №48 signed by Lukashenka, and which regulate their activities.

As it is known, Perspektiva republican association decided to recall its appeal to hold the street rally on February 15. However Brest sole traders believe that no progress in solving their problems has taken place. According to some reports, since January 1about 80% sole traders stopped work in Brest.

We remind that since January 1, 2016 Belarusian sole traders stopped trade massively. Since that day, under Lukashenka’s decree, sole traders are not able to sell consumer goods imported from the countries of the Customs Union, without certificates.

Since the beginning of January 2016 spontaneous meetings of sole traders are held in empty markets and shopping centres of Belarus. The Anti-crisis forum of sole traders, held on January 11 in the Belarus Hotel in Minsk, had about 1,500 representatives of the small business as its participants.

The second forum of Belarusian sole traders was held in the Hotel Pekin in Minsk had more than 1,000 participants. In its final resolution it was decided to demand reversal of the limiting measures for small business from Lukashenka directly, and hold a rally on Bangalore Square in Minsk. Many leaders of sole traders disagreed with the decision of the forum and urged their colleagues to unite and gather on the main square of the country. Despite the fact that Perspektiva recalled the application for the meeting on February 15, sole traders are still going to gather for the rally in central Minsk.
