The situation with the new tax on deposits is commented to Belsat by an economist Leanid Zlotnikau.

– The authorities do not have money, and they are looking for sources, where to take something more. The government intends to try to push people to put money into banks for longer terms. If we take statistics, the recent months show that foreign exchange savings are dwindling. Moreover, a light panic starts: if people are forced to put money for 2 years and more, and cannot draw the money out of the bank earlier, won’t the state eat away this money? And nobody knows what is to happen after that,” – Leanid Zlotnikau said.

There are no such risks as in Belarusian banks anywhere, the expert believes.
