Leu Marholin: All Numbers Revealed By State Are Stab In The Dark

The only way to influence the economy left for Lukashenka is prayers for oil to increase in price.

It has been said in an interview to ucpb.org website by the deputy chairman of the United Civil Party, an economist Leu Marholin, who commented the draft programme of social and economic development in Belarus in 2016 – 2020 adopted by the authorities.

According to Marholin, “the plans for the current five-year period are as unreal and impracticable as the previous ones.”

“The reason is, the so-called numbers are not supported by anything at all, there are no calculations or estimations, there are no events. Everything remains on the same level as Lukashenka’s statement about creation of 50,000 jobs this year, about reduction of production costs by 25%, about increase of utility expenses covering due to their lowering and so on. The authorities have not been managing the economy for a long time, at least for 6 years. Everything is going with the flow. All figures are a stab in the night, a guesswork, as the only method to influence the economy left is prayers for oil to go up, and for lifting sanctions from Russia,” – the economist said.

We remind that over the period of 5 years none of the social indicators have been fulfilled in Belarus.
