The Interior Minister avoided answering the question whether the suspects were working in the police at the time of committing a crime.

Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich said this while answering the journalists’ questions in the “chamber of representatives” on April 21.

According to him, an investigation has been initiated on the case against the "former internal affairs officers."

– Where these people police officers at the time of committing the crime? – the journalists tried to get it straight.

After a short pause, the minister repeated:

– Former internal affairs officers.

According to Shunevich, they “have been detained, arrested and their actions will be evaluated”.

As several police sources, having no connection to each other, reported to tut.by, the accused of rape were fired from the police in the period between the commission of the crime and the initiation of a criminal case against them. According to some information, they were fired on the day of their detention (on February 29) and, as the Investigation Committee had previously reported, the criminal case was launched against the already “unemployed citizens”.

According to the local media, three district inspectors, "being in the service of the Leninski district police department" and a former Penalty Execution Department officer raped the girl. As a reporter informed, one of them dressed in civilian clothes went to a nightclub where he met a girl and took her to an apartment where his friends were waiting. The girl was made even more drunk than she was, and, as the newspaper Vecherniy Mogilev wrote, they "took advantage of her vulnerable state". Allegedly, she was even beaten up by one of the participants.

This happened on Friday night on 26-27 of February. The attackers were detained on February 29.

The Investigation Committee said that the Main Investigation Department had no rape cases, launched against the law enforcement officers, in charge. There was a case of gang rape in Mahilyou, however, this case was launched against three, and not four suspects.

It’s very rare when the ordinary cases, not having a wide public resonance – the so-called "domestic squabbles” – are investigated by the Main Investigation Department and not the Regional Investigation Department.
