Valery Karbalievich: All Lukashenka’s Words Are Attempt To Conceal Reality

The dictator does not want to admit that he is to blame for the crisis in the country.

As the political analyst Valery Karbalevich noted in an express comment to Salidarnasts, in his address Aliaksandr Lukashenka “circumvented acute problems that are of great concern to people in our country.”

– He tried to talk round the problems by some standard theses, which have been known for many years, – the expert said. – If everything was fine in the country, it could look all right, but the country is at the dead end. And in this context, people wanted answers to their complicated and thorny questions. But instead of that we heard a standard set of answers that something should be strengthened, deepened, improved and so on.

According to the interlocutor, the main impression after Lukashenka’s speech was that “he failed to hold a serious conversation on serious issues faced by the country.”

– To start with, Lukashenka hadn’t even admitted that the country is in a crisis, and we cannot follow this path any more. Secondly, he hadn’t said what the cause of the crisis was, and who is to blame for it. And the third important issue is – how to overcome it? There was nothing said about it at all. He subtly worded what is going on in the country “the rate of development that has slowed down.” But they haven’t slowed down, they have plunged! And there have not been any development at all for a long time!

As said by the political analyst, all the words of the dictator are “simply an attempt to conceal the reality.”

– I think that he understands the actual state of things in the country, but he cannot say that it has happened through his fault. He cannot admit that the social model created by him has led up a blind alley. He cannot say that it should be abandoned, and a new model should be created. That is why for an hour and a half he had been just circumventing all these problems, – Valery Karbalevich stressed.
