Authorities Won’t Limit Sale Of Alcohol As It Will “Violate Human Rights”

When it comes to replenishing the budget, the officials become inventive with the wording.

Minsk Executive Committee strives for a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages to people in workwear, said Natallya Nestsiarovich, the head of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection, at a press conference on April 27.

“During the action “Say No To Drinking At Manufacturing”, we tried to register somehow a ban on the sale of alcohol to people in camouflage and workwear during this period, – said Nestsiarovich answering a question of BelaPAN. – But the officials refused to register that ban saying that that was a violation of human rights.”

“A person can wear his workwear outside his work too, as he can be on his way to his friends’ place or dacha. This issue is very tricky and we have not agreed on these measures. The head of the Minsk Executive Committee sets this task to us all the time, but we have not been able to settle it so far. Although, for example, there is a ban on alcohol sales on the days of the last calls at schools”, – the head of the department said.

She noted that, the number of injuries of workers in state of alcoholic intoxication has increased recently, despite carrying out actions and medical examinations at a number of enterprises before the shift. So, 14 employees were seriously injured over the last year, which is almost twice as many cases as in 2014.
