Minsk Court Fined Activist for Picketing Against Union With Russia

Judge fined Zmitser Palienka $210.

Hearing of the administrative case against Zmitser Palienka took place in Tsentralny district court of Minsk on April 26.

The activist was charged with participation in an unsanctioned picket against the union of Belarus and Russia, which was held near the Russian embassy in Minsk on April 2, Radio Svaboda reports.

Zmitser Palienka was wearing a mask while picketing, but the witnessing police officers claimed that they had recognized the activist and had identified him by a photo from a special photo base. The judge Mihail Homa fined Zmitser Palienka, who didn’t appear in the court, 20 basic units (Br4 200 000).
