Anatol Liabedzka Reminded Police About Abducted Politicians

7

The UCP leader came to the Tsentralny district police department in a T-shirt, which reminded men in uniform about unsolved political killings.

The leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Liabedzka visited the Tsentralny district police department in a T-shirt with portraits of abducted politicians: Viktar Hanchar, Yury Zakharanka, Henadz Karpenka, Anatol Krasouski and Dzmitry Zavadski, the ucpb.org site reports.

“I had to visit the police station, and I thought, why not to remind the law enforcement authorities about their duty to the community, about the cases, that remain a challenge for security forces, pain of Belarus and shame of this system? – Anatol Liabedzka said. – My getting about the police department building in a T-shirt with portraits of Viktar Hanchar, Yury Zakharanka, Henadz Karpenka, Anatol Krasouski and Dzmitry Zavadski was a complete surprise to the police officers, I saw their astonished eyes, felt their gazes on my back. That recall was useful not only to law enforcement officers, but also to all of us.

And also I wanted to say to representatives of power structures: if you want citizens’ respect, then you have to make a choice: to investigate political killings, or to fight with those, who want changes; to encourage manipulation during election campaigns – or, as Mikalai Kazlou, prove that one soldier does make a battle; to give false evidence in court – or to refuse something, that you will be ashamed of in front of your children.”
