Ministry of Finance Not Planning To Float Eurobonds

Belarus has no plans to float Eurobonds in the close perspective, Deputy Minister of Finance Yury Seliverstau has informed.

"We do not intend to enter the market of a Eurobond type borrowings in the close perspective,” – Seliverstau has said at the conference “Republic of Belarus in 2006: a Survey of Macro-Economic Situation and Bank Sector”, held by the international rating agency “Fitch Ratings” for the representatives of the Belarusian financial community, Interfax reports.

Alongside with that, he has noted that the Ministry of Finance is monitoring the situation and working on this issue. "In case there will be a favourable moment, we will try to come out with Eurobonds,” the Deputy Minister has said.

In early April, Belarusian Minister of Finance Uladzimir Amaryn stated that Belarus kept the plans on floating Eurobonds for the sum up to USD 1 bln, despite obtaining the credit from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development. "We are working to come out with floating Eurobonds this year", – the Minister said. He also underlined that the “situation was very comfortable” then.
