Alina Fortuna: Belarusian Authorities Afraid Of АТО Volunteers

The Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine are committed and motivated people, with combat experience, too.

Not so long ago the KGB detained Ukrainian “Right sector” volunteer Alina Kosovskaya in Minsk.

She was threatened with 10 years of imprisonment, but was released, with the Belarusian national symbols confiscated.

The mfront.net site spoke with the girl with a call sign “Fortuna” about what happened. Her austere economy of words and military coldness were really impressive. Yet still, the war changes people.

– Alina, please tell us a little about yourself.

– There’s not much to tell. I’m a “Right Sector” ATO fighter. I come from Kramatorsk. I’m 19 years old. A former Ukrainian Olympic reserve gymnast. I have no relatives.

– What was the motive of the Belarusian KGB: the personal hatred to the patriots fighting for Ukraine, or an order from Moscow?

– I think the Belarusian authorities are afraid of volunteers, as they are committed and motivated people, with combat experience, too. Obviously, there’s some influence of Russia here as well.

– Why do you think you were not jailed, but ordered to leave the country? Maybe it’s because the Belarusian authorities do not really want to quarrel with its southern neighbor, playing their games?

– I wasn’t jailed, because probably they did not want a scandal. Maybe they just needed to get as much information from me as possible, and take away all the stuff I was carrying from Belarus to ATO. Not only they released me, but gave me no protocol and put no entry banning stamp in my passport.

– As the media informed about this incident, you had gathered a small amount of money and symbols for Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine during your stay in Belarus. What did the KGB do with that?

–They secretly took the symbols away. They wanted to take my tablet, too, but I managed to persuade them. They made me buy a plane ticket with the money.

– Weren’t you threatened with violence?

– They didn’t threaten with violence. They even didn’t beat me up. I only got a few bruises, when they were arresting me.

– Did they order you to leave and not to come back? What were the grounds for their demand?

– They didn’t ban my entrance, but warned menacingly: “You’d better not enter again, otherwise you will be subject to criminal prosecution, you’ll get 10 years in prison.” The reason was not explained.

– And the last. In your opinion, who could inform them that you were in Belarus?

– I wrote about it myself, without mentioning the exact location.
