Belarusian Political Prisoners On Release Of Savchenko: This Is Happiness!

Former Belarusian political prisoners as no one else understand the feelings of the released Nadezhda Savchenko.

Belarusian politicians and journalists, imprisoned by the Lukashenka's regime after the elections of 2010, told about this in an interview to TV channel Belsat.

The coordinator of the civil campaign European Belarus Zmitser Bandarenka: “This is a real happiness! I must admit, I was a pessimist. I did not believe that Putin would release her just like that and that she would return to her homeland alive. It is a pure happiness and I fully understand her feelings at this moment.”

Natallia Radzina, the editor-in-chief of charter97.org website: “Certainly, this is a great happiness. I am well aware of what it means for a woman to be in prison. So I'm very happy for Nadia, happy for the fact that she is free.”

The leader of the civil campaign European Belarus, a candidate for presidency in 2010 Andrei Sannikau: “I'm just very happy. When I heard about this (I cannot say that one can fully compare these feelings), I had the same reaction as to my own release. Firstly, it is symbolic that such people exist. Secondly, it is symbolic that Nadezhda continues what we have seen during the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. She has become a symbol of the struggle of Ukraine for its freedom. And this means – of our struggle for freedom as well.”
