The court officers confiscated a microwave oven and a washing-machine from the 69-year-old civil activist Nina Bahinskaya, in her absence.

Nina Bahinskaya herself informed this to the website of the Belarusian Documentary Center:

- I have a debt of some Br 40 millions of unpaid fines, I don’t attend the court trials – I see no point in this, why wasting my time? The court officers visited us for the first time when I wasn’t at home. My son was there. They listed the property. I applied to the court that I disagreed with this, as it wasn’t my property but my children’s. I got a standard formal reply, that everything was legal, in their opinion. A week later, they came to take away all the things they had listed – two men in plain clothes and two – in the uniform of court officers. I didn’t let them in and called the police. The court officers filmed everything with a video camera. The police arrived and I informed they wanted to rob me. Who authorized these people to take the things that do not even belong to me? The state represses me, so count the fines out of my pension! Why do they involve my children, grand children and great-grandchildren? I am not going to pay anything voluntarily as I am guilty of nothing! They don’t want to extract fines from my pension – they cannot take everything, they fear that I am too old and can die soon so they won’t get the whole sum. This time, I managed to avoid confiscation. I left for my country cottage – this place feeds me for the whole year, I grow a lot of vegetables and fruit there.

Last Friday, on May 20, I returned to my Minsk apartment from the country cottage. My son told the court officers had come and taken away the washing-machine and the microwave oven. How come? All this belongs to my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. My granddaughter washes the things of my 7-months-old great-grandson manually. What is their fault? Later, I got a written notification that my pieces of land in Damashany and Maryina Horka had been arrested. I am preparing a protest note to the public prosecutor now.

I told them if they take my land I will still come there until I die. They obviously put an eye to my land. The other day, I got a call paper to the court – they will put me under trial for participation in the action ”The National Flag Square” over two charges at a time – Article 23.34and 23.4 – so the fine would be bigger.
