“Dzmitry Karziuk was born in Minsk. The service in law-enforcement bodies started 1993. In September 1993, he was employed as an inspector of the road patrol service. Then served as a platoon commander, a commander of a separate road patrol company and head of the Minsk police prevention department,” – the site describes Karziuk’s biography.

There are other chief traffic police officer’s career “achievements”, the website charter97.org has written about them. In 2011, he was the prosecution witness in the case of European Belarus civil campaign coordinator Zmitser Bandarenka, who was accused of organizing the so-called mass riots on 19 December 2010.

Karziuk, who at that time used to be the head of the Minsk traffic police, claimed that “a group of march participants, including Zmitser Bandarenka, Pavel Seviarynets, and Iryna Khalip, broke through the chain of traffic police and went on the road, not having listened to the demands of the police officers to leave the roadway and not to interfere with the traffic.”

And in August 2011, Dzmitry Karziuk blocked the traffic on Independence Avenue all the way to disrupt the rally “Stop Petrol.” On that day, the traffic was literally paralyzed in Minsk – drivers were indignant and complained that they had not been warned about the closure of the main streets. The next day, talking to reporters, Dzmitry Karziuk assured that Independence Avenue had not been blocked and one “could safely drive along there.”
