15000th Procession In Honor Of Feast Of Corpus Christi Held In Minsk

People in civilian clothes were capturing believers on video and threatening with arrests.

On Sunday, May 29, a massive street march, organized by the Catholic church of Belarus, was held in Minsk.

The street procession, which is traditionally held in the last days of May, was timed to coincide with the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. By tradition, the faithful marched along central streets of Minsk with icons, holy banners, prayers and spiritual singing, Radio Svaboda reports.

This year's procession was held, as in previous years, people were walking the sidewalks from Church of St. Roch in Zalataya Horka Street to the Cathedral in Independence Square. During the procession believers stopped to pray at altars set in Victory Square and Kastrychnitskaya Square.

Several dozen priests, bishops of Belarus, as well as about fifteen thousand believers took part in the procession.

Over the course of the procession the participants were accompanied by security forces.

They not only watched over the road traffic, but also videoed the marchers. The believers, who resented such situation, were threatened with arrests.
