The Court accused a disabled persons of group II of slander against Lukashenka and sent him for compulsory treatment.

As it became known to the human rights activists, on June 3, the Minsk city court will consider a private appeal of Aliaksandr Lapitski against the decision of the Frunzenski district court of Minsk on the recognition of Aliaksandr Lapitski guilty of insulting the authorities and the decision to send him on compulsory treatment, the HRC Viasna reports.

If the Court does not satisfy the complaint of 80-year-old pensioner, the previously issued decision will come into force, and Aliaksandr Lapitski will be sent to a psychiatric hospital.

Let us remind that in 2011 the pensioner Aliaksandr Lapitski started to monitor the proceedings on the case of explosion in the Minsk metro. In his blog, he described in detail why, in his opinion, the high officials are to be blamed for the tragedy. The police have repeatedly refused to initiate criminal proceedings against the pensioner, however, it was brought to the court this year. On April 12, the Frunzenski district court of Minsk released 79-year-old capital resident Aliaksandr Lapitski from criminal responsibility under articles 391, 369, 368 of the Criminal Code (“Insulting a judge or people's assessors,” “Insulting the authorities,” “Insulting the President of Belarus”) on grounds that the crime was committed by the citizen in a state of inadequacy.

The Human Rights Center Viasna has made a statement demanding to dismiss criminal proceedings against Aliaksandr Lapitski and revise the legislation on defamation of government officials. Human rights activists consider, that the organization “Amnesty International” might recognize Aliaksandr Lapitski as a political prisoner.
