Entrance examinations should be modernized in Belarus.

Aliaksandr Lukashenko emphasized that during the meeting on the adjustment of the rules of admission to institutions of higher and secondary special education in Minsk on Tuesday, the press service of the governor informs.

According to Lukashenka, the current system of admission to universities and colleges in the country in the form of centralized testing (CT) should not be frozen. It should to respond flexibly to current trends.

The governor pointed out that there are different points of view about the CT, but none of them has significant advantage.

The measures to increase the recruitment of applicants for sharply demanded economy specialties were discussed among other things at the meeting. In this connection, Lukashenka demanded not to simplify the admission procedure to ensure high-quality selection of students. He expressed the hope that, applying for such specialties, the applicants would be interviewed, which would allow to assess whether the level of their knowledge corresponds to the chosen specialty.

Higher Education, Lukashenka is convinced, should not be massive in the negative sense of the word, it has to be elitist.

Specialist training in higher education has to be focused on the needs of the economy, the dictator continued.

“We will always proceed from this need in quantitative and qualitative set of our students, future students,” – Lukashenka said.

The applicant campaign is traditionally paid close attention in Belarus. This year, it also has to go smoothly and clearly, he demanded.
