Russian Anti-Aircraft Weapon System S-300 Take Up Combat Duty In Polatsk

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus has reported about consolidation of the common Russian regional system of the anti-aircraft defense.

The anti-aircraft missile battalion of the 377th antiaircraft missile regiment (Polatsk) has taken up the combat duty on defense of the Belarusian state border in the air space on May 5. The battalion has just received an anti-aircraft weapon systems S-300 into its disposal.

This information has been provided by the Ministry of Defense’s press-center.

"With an aim of further development and consolidation of the Common regional system of anti-aircraft defense in the framework of military and technical cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the anti-aircraft weapon systems S-300 were shipped to the Armed Forces and the Anti-Aircraft Defense Forces of our country. Two of them were destined to this very military unit,” stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense.

A series of events preceded taking up the combat duty. Thus, the military men who will use the anti-aircraft weapon systems had gone through staged re-qualification at the base of the Military Academy of Belarus. Successfully conducted combat starts of missiles at the Russian fire ground Telemba had become their examinations. After that they held events on position development for S-300, conducted admission of machinery, and carried out a complex of coupling and testing works.
