Authorities Promised Housing For Everyone And 15% Growth Of GDP

The Belarus' draft social and development program for 2016-2020 has been published.

It is expected that the program will be adopted by the fifth “All-Belarusian People's Assembly.” The project has been published in Sovetskaya Belorussia under the slogan “Together For A Strong And Prosperous Belarus!.”

Some problems are listed in the document, in addition to the fantastic promises. This is the decline in exports, revenues of enterprises and the budget, the slowdown in economic growth, inflation and external debt of the country, deterioration in quality of products, slow introduction of innovations, “tensions over paying off wages,” the lack of investment, poor development of small and medium businesses.

"The indicated problems are serious, but not catastrophic. Overcoming them will be one of the key objectives of the current Five-Year Plan,” – the authors of Belarus' draft social and development program for 2016-2020 write.

It is noted that the country's major development goal for 2016-2020 is to improve the quality of people's life through stronger economic competitiveness, investment attraction and innovative development.“

The further promises look like not quite science fiction.

In 2020 the GDP growth will allegedly make up 12-15% as against 2015, real incomes of Belarusians –9,5-11,6%. Landing rates will be reduced by 9-11% by the end of 2020. Every Belarusian family will be able to afford housing,” – the program promises.

It is also promised to “put at ease business initiatives,” check to prices, liberalize the monetary system, update the system of economic management.

The so-called “All-Belarusian People's Assembly,” which is to adopt the program, is scheduled for June 22-23.

Earlier it was reported that in January-February 2016 Belarus' GDP fell by 4% (in dollar terms – by all 16.0%), and economists believe that its 15% growth is unrealistic.

We also recall that in 2010, Lukashenka promised Belarusians the average salary of 1000 dollars in 2015. “By 2015 we have to bring wages up to $ 1,000 in the equivalent,” – the dictator said at that time. However, even according to official data of the National Statistics Committee, in April 2016 the average salary of state employees in the country amounted to Br 5.5 mln. ($ 281).
