Mikalaj Autukhovich: Entrepreneurs’ Voice Will Be Heard!
Mikalaj Autukhovich

The leader of the entrepreneurs’ trade union “Solidarity” calls on the individual entrepreneurs to unite and stand for their rights.

Leader of entrepreneurs from Vaukavysk, former political prisoner Mikalaj Autukhovich has stated this in his appeal to the individual entrepreneurs of Belarus.

Charter97.org publishes the full text of the appeal.

Dear Entrepreneurs, subjects of economy of all levels!

Me, Mikalaj Autukhovich, the entrepreneur from Vaukavysk, the Chairman of the steering committee for creating the entrepreneurs’ trade union “Solidarity”, am addressing herewith to all of you – the subjects of economy of the Republic of Belarus. A man by nature always needs protection and support, and an entrepreneur in the Republic of Belarus needs it twice more badly. Entrepreneurs, being exclusively rational and pragmatic people, rarely take interest in politics, but they started realizing in the recent years that the politics has taken interest in them. Many of us began to understand that, without political support, without own political participation it is complicated to develop not just the own business, but the whole sphere of small business in the country. We need stable legislation and guarantees of this stability.

Many of us asked themselves a question many times during the latest years – when will they stop terrorizing the business? There is no answer to this question yet. In civilized countries, the citizens who are capable of not only supporting themselves, but also of attracting investments and creating jobs, are considered “the golden fund of the nation”, which solves the issues of not just self-provision, but takes off the state’s social burden by creating jobs, and realize fulfillment of the budget items of all levels by paying taxes. We, in our country, are declared some gangsters in fact, from the high tribune. But we remain decent people, we do not leech off anyone, we take many risks connected with investment of our own money, work in the segments of the Belarusian market and fulfillment of all obligations before the state and the society.

Today, many of us close businesses and leave the country, but we suggest standing for our rights together, and develop the economy of our country, not some other states. We are fully rightful inhabitants of our Belarusian home, we want our voices to be heard and taken into account. It is necessary to achieve such conditions for the entrepreneurship, so that go-getting people would strive to our country , bringing investments and new jobs. The experience of the developed countries shows that only in the conditions of all-round competition there can be low prices and high life quality in the country, and we are longing for that.

It is not the entrepreneurs’ fault that the economical situation in our country is rapidly deteriorating. In the current difficult economic situation the state should minimize and practically withdraw all the limitations against the entrepreneurs and the business on the whole, reduce taxes as much as possible and abolish some of them altogether, up to the total stabilization of the economic situation in our country.

Entrepreneurs in Belarus can no longer afford the cost of living. They cannot feed their families, take a risk by working under constant prohibitions and limitations, artificially created by the authorities in violation of the Customs Union’s legislation. The fiscal authorities turned into an instrument of destruction, in fact, of the class of entrepreneurs, pushing some of them outside the borders of life, like in the yesterday’s case of Tatsiana Dupanava from Homel. In difficult times, when a master cannot feed his dog, he releases it off the leash so that it could find food on its own to have a chance to survive. Now there is a time to release the business afloat, not to pull the last strength out of the entrepreneurs.

The entrepreneurs’ trade union "Solidarity" will ensure that all levels of government contribute to make doing business prestigious, and the people who attract investments and create jobs in the country should become respected in the society. An entrepreneur remains a key figure in a market economy, and it is an indisputable truth that needs to be established in the minds of representatives of the authorities and the citizens. The entrepreneurs in the country have not only obligations, the fulfillment of which is thoroughly controlled by the authorities, but we also have rights and the trade union "Solidarity" sees its main task - to defend the rights and legitimate interests of all economic entities at all levels of business, including international. We will work to improve the effectiveness of the state support for small businesses, the expansion of the entrepreneurs' access to the credit resources, solving the problems associated with staffing, tax and legal regulations, including labor relations, carrying out inspections on the part of the supervisory authorities.

By joining the entrepreneurs’ trade union "Solidarity", we do not only protect our own interests and the interests of our families, but demonstrate our civil position and take the responsibility for the good of the whole Belarusian society and state.

The voice of the entrepreneurs must be and will be heard!

Find us on our Facebook page – the entrepreneurs’ trade union "Solidarity". You will also find the application forms for entry, study the draft Charter of the trade union, its missions and directions of activity, and decide to which degree it meets your interests.
