Belarus Weightlifting Federation Threatened With 1-Year Disqualification

The Belarusian Weightlifting Federation may be suspended for a year upon repeated checking of the tests taken at the Olympics in Beijing and London.

This is said in the statement of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

The statement informs that such decision will be taken against the federations of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan in case the repeated checking of doping tests made at the Olympics in 2008 and 2012 reveals three and more positive tests results for prohibited substances of the athletes from the said countries.

Besides, the International Weightlifting Federation has already deprived Belarus of one Olympic quota for the Games-2016. According to Pressball, the reason for that is detection of several positive doping test results during the qualification for the Olympics.

Apart from this, the IWF has deprived Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, DPRK, Moldova and Russia of two Olympic quotas each. National teams of Romania and Uzbekistan have lost one Olympic quota each.
