Activist’s Car Seized Because Of White-Red-White Flags

Yauhen Batura was driving a car decorated with flags to take a part in the action of solidarity with Eduard Palchys.

Traffic police officers detained the activist Yauhen Batura in Nezalezhnastsi Avenue in Minsk, Radio Racyja reports.

Batura was driving his own car, decorated with white-red-white flags, to take part in the action of solidarity with Eduard Palchys.

The activist`s car was stopped near hotel Minsk:

- We decided to go the action, we had read that Dzmitry Dashkevich is holding an action of solidarity with Palchys. We had decided to drive there with flags, but didn`t manage to reach our destination. They stopped us, took our documents, and then, in 15 minutes I came up to them and asked: “What have we violated?”, “Nothing has been violated, but you know what country it is. We are waiting for the order on what to do with you”.

The police officers took Yauhen and his car to the Maskouski district Police Department of Minsk. There they seized his car keys and distrained his car, because it was allegedly stolen. Batura was released from the Maskouski district Police Department of Minsk, but his car is still kept at the police department.

Let us remind that on June 23, several dozens of people came to the Central Post Office to sign postcards and send them to Eduard Palchys, who is in prison now
