This has been informed on July 11 by EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn.

He has said this upon the results of the 7th informal dialogue of the Eastern Partnership in Kyiv.

“It looks obvious that, at a time like this, we must confirm strong support of the European Union for our neighbours from the East. Brexit in no way concerns the relations with partners,”Johannes Hahn has noted.

Answering the question of Radio Svaboda on whether there exist additional political or economic conditions for Belarus to get closer to the EU, the Commissioner has pointed out there should be the two-way movement.

“I think there have been some positive moments in Belarus’ development. Of course we haven’t reached the desired level yet, but we do realize the difficulties and the challenges we need to overcome,” – Johannes Hahn has said.

The EU believes it is necessary to expand the economic cooperation to create perspectives for the citizens’ lives.

“I think this is keeping apace with the develoment of fundamental basics. We can only attract Euroepan investors from the European Union where the court system has been improved. This is what we work with. However, this is very important for us how the elections will go. It is also an opportunity to see how they are prepared and how they will be conducted. Still, generally, I am totally convinced that at present moment we can continue such careful process of evolution of our relations,” – the EU Commissioner has clarified.
