Evgeny Kiselev: Colleagues of Pavel Sheremet to Drive a Nail Home

Those who hoped to intimidate the journalistic shop by a demonstrative murder will fail.

Murder of Pavel Sheremet is related to his professional activity. Evgeny Kiselev, Pavel's colleague, informed RBK-Ukraine.

"First, we should wait for at least preliminary statements of investigative bodies. Second, I am convinced that it is the politically motivated murder and it is connected with Sheremet's professional activity," Kiselev said.

Evgeny Kiselev added that it should be a field investigation.

"I've noted that he has recently had prominent figures of Ukrainian business and policy interviewed. I was impressed by the interview with the new leader of the PPB Ihor Hryniv. I do not know about any investigations of criminal or anti-corruption nature."

However, Kiselev stressed that political, criminal and business elites rarely resorted to violence against journalists.

"I am skeptical about the fact that different kinds of bureaucrats, corrupt officials, representatives of the criminal world are seriously afraid of such publications. My journalistic experience shows that they rarely resort to such drastic measures. It is possible that that was a demonstrative crime which aimed at intimidation of the journalistic shop as a whole. It may happen that he had a number of new publications. You should understand if the interview is recorded, materials are prepared, the publication can be abandoned. But there will be other people who can drive a nail home," Kiselev stressed.

It will be recalled that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed law enforcement agencies to urgently investigate the death of Pavel Sheremet.
