Belarusian Tries To Get To South America By Sea In Self-Made Boat

The borderline service of the coast guard of Romania found a Belarusian citizen who was drifting in the Black Sea in a self-made boat.

This has been informed by the Romanian media. According to Ziua de Constanţa, it happened at 23.11 on July 3, tut.by reports.

The man was detected with the help of the video surveillance system. He was drifting with the speed of approximately 12 sea miles per hour in a small boat in the direction of the Romanian city of Mangalia.

The border guards detained the boat. It was constructed on a base of a boat, the roof was made of fabric and the mast – of empty cans. Inside they found a man who was sent to a hospital in Mangalia with the signs of hypohydremia and hypothermia.

The detainee appeared to be a 56-year-old citizen of Belarus. He told that in the end of last month he had left the territory of Ukraine from a beach located 30 kilometers away from Odesa, planning to reach the coasts of South America in a self-made boat.

It has been informed that the life of the Belarusian citizen is out of danger and he has been handed in to the Immigration Service today. At present, he is charged with illegal crossing of the state border.
