Lukashenka On The Results Of The Olympians: The Question Is What They Went There For?

The Head of the Olympic Committee did not like the results of his wards.

Salaries in sports must depend on results, Lukashenko said during his working trip to Malaryta district, Brest region, BelTA reports.

“If there is the result, there will be the additional bonuses. We need to give a chance to participate to those who want to show the result, and then we will pay the money. And now they come to the governor or the president: give us money. And where are the result?” – the governor said.

A similar approach is needed with regard to the salaries of administrative staff in a number of sports clubs, which should be “tied solely to financial results”. The conversation about the development of sport, including sport for children and youth, happened near the local sports complex where the dictator’s helicopter had landed.

He also criticized the performance of some Belarusian athletes at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

“Some show worse results than before the Olympics, during the qualifying. The question is what they went there for?” – the dictator wonders.
