Belarusian Army Got Russian Long-range Early Warning Radar

New long-range early warning radar "Protivnik-GE(59H6-E) has entered service with the Belarusian Army.

The press-service of the Defence Ministry informs.

"The new radar has passed the testing phase. The first radar is put into service today, another one is expected in the beginning of the next year. In general, in accordance with the state program of armaments by 2020 Belarus will receive seven such stations, cadets of the Military Academy will take exercises on one of them", Brigadier General Aleh Dvihalue, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Armed Forces of Belarus, informs

The radar is a highly-automated complex, which use the most advanced achievements in the field of radio detection and ranging, computing technology, design and engineering solutions. It belongs to modern mobile three-dimensional search radars with expanded detection envelope of the aerodynamic and ballistic targets with the ability to simultaneously track up to 200 targets at altitude of up to 150 km and maximum range of up to 450 km. The long-range early warning radar is designed to detect air targets and support strategic and tactical aviation, aircraft missiles, small-size low-speed aircraft.

The station has been produced since 2007 by Russian Research Institute of Radio Engineering in Nizhny Novgorod.
