The Russian state corporation is concealing how serious the incidents at the Astravets NPP are.

The Russian state corporation for construction of nuclear objects “Rosatom” cannot be trusted as it conceals or tries to underestimate the seriousness of incidents at the Belarusian NPP, which is under construction in Astravets, says Lithuanian Minister for Foreign Affairs Linas Linkiavicius, ru.delfi.lt writes.

The Minister has said this after “Rosatom” published a message on their website that the incident that had happened on July 10, when the reactor vessel had fallen down, caused no consequences for this equipment.

“Rosatom should bother about the quality of this object with all responsibility, not about saving their reputation. What we learn about all these events from their website, or from the media, as it happened before, instead of a direct contact, demonstrates the tendency that they are either trying to hide some events, or to underestimate their seriousness when those events become evident. So, it would be hard for them to win trust. If their aim is truly to build with a good quality, they should avoid statements which the Belarusian leaders make - like, (they want) to build cheaper, faster,” – Linkiavicius has said.

He has repeated that the only way to grant security is to organize the monitoring over the Belarusian NPP by the international experts.

We remind, last Thursday, the Lithuanian government handed the Belarusian diplomat a note due to the incident at the NPP construction in Astravets.

The Lithuanian Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Energy and Environment have forwarded a letter to deputy chairman of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, and European Commissioner for Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, in which they informed about the incident and asked the EU to actively assist in resolving the issue of nuclear safety, stated in the message of the Foreign Ministry. This is not the first message about the possible incidents at the Belarusian NPP.
