Rally In 1863 Rebels Honor Held Near Liozna

Activists from Vorsha, Liozna and Vitsebsk gathered near the unique monument in the village of Pahostsishche.

The activists laid flowers at the unique monument in the village of Pahostsishche in Liozna district, where the last battle of the 1863 rebels under the leadership of the Vorsha detachment commander Ihnatsiy Budzilovich took place, Radio Ratcyja reports.

The monument was made by Liozna schoolchildren on the initiative of teacher Alena Hrechyshnikava in 2006. The cross was made by an Armenian sculptor. The inscription “For Independent Belarus” was made by a Liozna schoolgirl. The place is honored every year on the day of Ihnatsiy Budzilovich’s execution on 28 August.
