Belarus Leads Pack In Terms Of Price Increase

Consumer prices have increased in the country by 7.8% for the seven months of 2016.

According to the analysis of data from national statistical offices, conducted by BelaPAN, Belarus ranked first on the growth of consumer prices in the territory of the former Soviet Union in January-July 2016.

For seven months, consumer prices in the country increased by 7.8%. This is followed by Azerbaijan (5.9%), Kazakhstan (5.2%), Ukraine (4.8%), Russia (3.9%), Tajikistan (3.7%), Estonia (1.8%), Latvia (0.8%) and Lithuania (0.3%). Prices decreased in Moldova (0.9%), Georgia (1%), Kyrgyzstan (2.3%) and Armenia (3.3%). In Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan released information for the first half of the year (the price growth was respectively 0.43% and 2.5%). Prices increased in self-proclaimed Transnistria, which has its own financial system, in January-July by 2.31%.

In January, Belarus ranked third in terms of price increase (1.9%) in January and February, the second (4.8%)in the first quarter, the second (5.7%) in January-April, (6.4%), the first In January-May (7%), the first in the first half of the year(7.4%).

In July 2016, Belarus, with its price increase by 0.4%, ranked fourth after Tajikistan (0.6%), Kazakhstan and Russia (0.5%). They are followed by Georgia (0.2%). Prices in Estonia did not change, but decreased in Ukraine (0.1%), Azerbaijan, Latvia (0.3%), Kyrgyzstan (0.5%), Lithuania (0.7%), Moldova (at 0 , 9%) and Armenia (2.3%).

In January-July 2015, Belarus ranked third in terms of price increase (7.5%) in the territory of the former USSR.
