Total national debt has increased by $ 3 billion since the beginning of the year.

By August 1, 2016, the national debt of Belarus was equal to 35,9 billion rouble. It has increased by 3 billion rouble or 9.3% since the beginning of the year, BelaPAN informs referring to the Ministry of Finance.

The foreign debt in rouble has amounted to 13.3 billion US dollars as of August 1, 2016, which is 847 million dollars (including exchange rate differences), or 6.8% more than at the beginning of the year.

In January-July, 1 billion 303.4 million dollars of foreign government loans were attracted: 800 million dollars from the Eurasia Foundation of stabilization and development; 276.9 million dollars from the government and the banks of the Russian Federation; 179.5 million dollars from Chinese banks; 46.6 million dollars from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD); 0.4 million dollars from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Repayment of external state debt amounted to 525.8 million dollars since the beginning of 2016: 176.6 million dollars - Eurasia Found for Stabilization and Development; 162.5 million dollars - the Government of the Russian Federation; 165.6 million dollars - Bank of China; 20.4 million dollars - IBRD; 0.7 million dollars - USA.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the internal state debt amounted to 9.4 billion rouble as of August 1, i.e. it has decreased by 0.4 billion rouble (including exchange rate differences), or 3.8% since the beginning of the year.

In January-July, the Belarus government sold 670.1 million dollars and 493.1 million rouble worth of domestic government bonds nominated in foreign currencies and Belarusian rouble to corporations and individuals. The government redeemed 1.136,0 million US dollars and 596.2 million rouble worth of government bonds from individuals and corporations.

Let us remind, that during 2015, Belarus' external state debt has grown by 131.1 trillion roubles or 66.4% and totalled 328,6 roubles as of January 1, 2016.

The external state debt amounted to $12.4 billion as of January 1, 2016, which is $ 133.9 million (including exchange rate differences) or 1.1% less than at the beginning of 2015.

As provided for by the budget law, the amount of $ 17 billion was established as the ceiling limit for the foreign state debt of Belarus for 2016. The ceiling limit of the internal state debt for 2016 is 115 trillion roubles.
