Viktar Malachko: Pro-Governmental “Deputy” Told Me That “Our” Kanapatskaya Was Also Appointed
VIKTAR MALACHKO

Head of the Minsk regional organization of the United Civil Party Viktar Malachko decided to resign.

He justified his decision as follows:

“Considering that the party has given consent to the “appointing” one of its members for the “house of representatives” of the “national assembly” ... see no rationale for holding my position in the Minsk regional organization of the United Civil Party. A relevant statement will be directed to the meeting of the party speakers on September 25.”

Malachko said to Radio Svaboda:

“We are talking here about Hanna Kanapatskaya. I have nothing against it. But I thinks that, if Hanna wants to be a “deputy,” let withdraw from the party.

My son Aliaksandr, who works as an electrical mechanic at Belaruskali, is also running for the deputies in the Salihorsk constituency 68. We are winning with him without doubt. But there has been such fraud! I have written statements to everywhere – to the KGB, police, prosecutor's office, the court, – describing how ballots were “arrested” at some polling stations.

Yesterday morning I and my son were at the announcement of the voting results. And we met Andrei Rybak – the Deputy General Director of Belaruskali. I said to him: “Andrei, you are an appointed “deputy.” He reacted: “If so, then your Kanoapatskaya is appointed as well. After that I decided to write the letter of resignation.”

When asked, whether he was leaving only the post of head of the regional organization, or had a decision to withdraw from the party, Viktar replied:

I am only leaving the post so far. But I do not exclude, that I will leave the party. Maybe we'll do it together with my son, because he is also a member of the United Civil Party.”
