On February 7 the Mink city hall is supposed to sanction the trade union protest, scheduled for February 14. It may well come to pass that the authorities move the whole event to the remote and solitary place - Bangalor square. If so, then the February 9 FTU session will decide on the adequate reaction on their part. 
Belarus sells battle jets in Bangalor 11:10, 07/02/2001

Over 150 companies from 18 countries of the planet present their products this Wednesday in the Indian town of Bangalor during the aerospace saloon "Aero India 2001". The major organizer of the Russian exhibition stand - the largest of all - is the federal state-controlled enterprise "Rosoboronoexport". Belarus and Ukraine also take part in the event. 
World Bank examines Belarus 11:09, 07/02/2001

From today on the World Bank`s mission will start operating on the territory of Belarus. WB experts will evaluate the situation in the country`s power engineering, natural resource industry and others. The group will also include an expert in atomic power, as far as one of their tasks is to study the situation with air pollution and work out the ways of diminishing the Chernobyl blast consequences.

US embassy in Minsk congratulated deputy Vladimir Kudinov and his family members with their final reunion after four years of separation: "We hope that this positive step by the Belarusian authorities will be followed by some more, as concerns the fulfillment of the OSCE criteria: they should cease all politically motivated trial proceedings, release all imprisoned dissidents and provide full data on the missing people`s whereabouts." 
Belarusian Freedom Party chair denies their involvement in a bomb attack in Moscow 11:07, 07/02/2001

Belarusian Freedom Party BFP doesn`t relate to the blast that occurred February 5 night at the Moscow subway station "Belarusskaya", said in his conversation with the BelaPAN correspondent BFP chair Sergei Vysotsky. By saying this, the leader of the unregistered party actually refuted spreading rumors of his party`s plotting the attack, which first appeared in the guest books of the sites www.draniki.com "Draniki" and www.svaboda.com "Nasha Svaboda". The anonymous author placed there the message of the following content: "Metro station "Belarusskaya". We claim full responsibility for this terrorist attack. Belarusian Freedom Party." 
Newspaper reprimanded for investigating into Zavadsky`s disappearance case 11:06, 07/02/2001

"Belarusskaya Delovaya Gazeta" received February 6 another official reprimand, this time from the country`s procuracy. In December the edition published the material "The Blood of "Almaz" about the course of the investigation procedures on "Ignatovic`s case". The journalists` investigation deals with the abduction of Dmitry Zavadsky. Procuracy considered the data, contained in the newspaper, to have been taken from their files, though the paper`s editor Petr Marzev tried to convince the officials that BDG had launched an independent investigation, using information from their own sources, which the law allows to do.

One of the closest accomplices of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevich, ex-Minister for Defense Zoran Sokolovich was shot dead in his "Lada-Niva" car, reports ITAR-TASS. 
Court allowed Lukashenko to sit on two chairs at the same time 11:04, 07/02/2001

Chair of the Constitutional court of Belarus Grygory Vasilevich deems that Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko doesn`t violate the Law by occupying the post of the head of the country`s Olympic Committee. He underlined that "for the leader of the country that`s only an additional responsibility". 
Poland to delay introduction of entry visas for CIS states 11:03, 07/02/2001

Poland will strive to delay the introduction of the entry visa regime for Russia and a range of other CIS countries - Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, said Polish FM Vladislav Bartoshevsky in his February 6 interview to RIA "Novosti" and RTR program "International Panorama". The state official stressed that the introduction of visa regime is an enforced measure - Poland must do it in order to join the EU and Shengen treaty zone. 
Five companies contend to buy Belarusian debt 11:02, 07/02/2001

Five companies of Lithuania filed their applications to purchase Belarusian debt for electricity worth $50 mln, which was put on sale by the Lithuanian state monopolist Lietuvos Energija at the end of last year. The deadline for submitting the applications expired on February 5. 
Official Belarus marks the National Day of Mental Health 11:01, 07/02/2001

On the 7 th of April the Ministry of Healthcare will celebrate the Day of Mental Health. Their actions will be carried out under the motto "Protection of mental health: flee isolation, help others". In the year 1999 among every 100 thousand Belarusians there would be 117,7 individuals, suffering from all sort of mental diseases. In particular, 9,3 of them complain of schizophrenia, 30,1 have psychosis problems.
