Worker calls on Lukashenko to confess his errors and step down :: Charter'97 :: News

Head of the primary organization of the Independent Belarusian Trade Union of the Minsk automatic lines Mikhail Vodchyts addressed February 15 Alexander Lukashenko with an open letter, in which he speaks of the dire straits of the Belarusian enterprises.

"The established tendencies of salary payment delays and their size, writes the trade union leader, force us to look up for an answer to the question - for how long will they keep violating lawful rights of state employees? We thought that the Minister of industry would be so kind as to clarify the reasons behind the hopelessness of the current situation and absence of development perspectives. However, with time we changed our minds, realizing that the person, whom we wanted to contact cannot be held responsible for the past or present mistakes, for it`s only one person, who defines the model and direction for our country`s development. That person is you, Alexander Grygorievich."

The author of the letter finishes it with the following remark: "The situation nonetheless can and must be improved but to do so you have to admit that you led us in a wrong direction and got lost."
