Notorious advisor of the former president of Peru Alberto Fuhimori, dismissed last autumn, mighty chief of the local security service Vladimiro Montesinos received $35 mln. of commission for purchasing Russian combat jets MiG-29. These data are included in the report of the parliamentary commission, investigating into the activities of Montesinos. According to one of the version the money from Russians were obtained by Montesinos through signing the contract on shipment of Belarusian jets to Peru back in 1996.

One of the leaders of the Russian Union of Right-wing forces Irina Hakamada said that one cannot expect in the near future the enlargement of Russia-Belarus union due to their acceptance of Moldova. The lady noted that the union of the two is "more of an amorphous body, which is more politically motivated rather than economically justified." Hakamada claims that the Commonwealth member states have to move closer into the EU, no matter what forces are presently in power there.
