BT unleashed blatant propaganda campaign against Catholics 11:09, 05/03/2001
Belarusian academics and public figures sent their note of protest against Azarenok`s documentary "Soul-catchers" about to be televised on BT. The film contains slanderous accusations of the Catholic Church and its spiritual leaders. The scientists believe that the movie incites religious hatred in the society and humiliates Belarusians.
The film is targeted against the Catholic Church. Its authors use the most primitive and mean gimmicks: the movie lacks logic, montage is unprofessional and can be watched by the most uneducated viewers only. It is made up in form of a puzzle from different historic video-reports, not relating to each other.
They inserted materials about Gaidar, Eltsin, Gorbachev and even NATO, which have nothing to do with the Catholicism.
The statement further reads this: "We are sorry that the Belarusian television shows such low-profile propagandistic documentaries, which push Belarusian viewers into the abyss of illiteracy, dark ages, blind aggression and hatred. We consider it inadmissible to televise on BT movies which bear anti-state, anti-social, anti-Belarusian, anti-human character."
The document`s signatories are: Anatoly Grytskevich, Vladimir Konan, Adam Maldzis, Gennady Saganovich, Lubov Vladikovskaya-Konoplyanik.
