Over hundred zubrs/bisons formed a line along the main prospect of Minsk

in order to remind the citizens about mass disappearances of people in their country. Young men and ladies were holding portraits of the missing ones - Yuri Zakharenko, Viktor Gonchar, Anatoly Krasovsky, Dmitry Zavadsky and also Gennady Karpenko, who died under mysterious circumstances. Live chain spread along the Skarina prospect - from Oktyabrskaya to the Independence square. The action lasted for half an hour, attracting 120 people with "ZUBR" emblem and tags "Honor! Motherland! Svaboda" pinned to their clothes.

ZUBR/BISON launches actions in Minsk, Vitebsk and Brest

Continuation of the protest of the national resistance ZUBR will be held today in Minsk on the Svabody square. Yesterday six activists of this newly emerged movement staged a picket opposite Lukashenko`s administration against the disappearances of the prominent Belarusians. Three action participants were detained, now awaiting trial, scheduled for today. Three others faced no harassment. Apart from Minsk, various ZUBR protests took place in Vitebsk and Brest. Moreover, in Belarus they keep distributing special issue of the "Nasha Svaboda" newspaper, dedicated to the missing people. Read the materials of the special issue tonight on this web-page. Daily Telegraph focuses on the military cooperation between Iraq, Belarus and Russia

British "Daily Telegraph" almost after one-year break returns to the topic of active military cooperation of Iraq with Russia and Belarus: in late February this paper published an article "Iraq secretly purchases Russian weaponry". The article reads that Saddam Hussein ordered to substantially increase the number of staffers in the Iraqi embassies in Russia and Belarus and appointed one of his high-ranking military officials head of the new intelligence bureau in Moscow."

Chigir`s persecution underway

Former country`s Prime Minister Mikhail Chigir was summoned March 5 to the investigation committee of the Ministry for the Interior, where he was told that the files of the three episodes of the criminal case, that he`s charged with, will be forwarded to the expertise. These are the materials on tax payments during Mikhail Chigir`s work as a representative of the German company "Geya" in Minsk.

Belarusian FM considers the registration of the "Association of Belarusian political refugees" in Poland as an unfriendly act

This week in the Polish city of Belostok they will grant registration certificates to the "Association of Belarusian political refugees in Poland." The NGOs key mission, as claimed by its organizers, will be providing legal, financial and information support to individuals, "forced to flee from Belarus to Poland for their political convictions". Belarusian Foreign Ministry officials reckon such registration as an "unfriendly act of the neighboring country, with which Belarus was, is and intends to be on friendly terms."

Fugitives from Chernobyl get back to their homes

Around a hundred refugees from Chernobyl voluntarily returned to their settlements, badly contaminated with radioactive pollution. In the beginning of 90ies 360 families have fled to the town of Mosty of the Grodno region. At the moment there are only 250 of them left. In Mosty they were promised new apartments, which was the root-cause of their conflict with local residents.
