8 months have passed since the abduction of the ORT cameraman Dmitry Zavadsky. He disappeared off the street under mysterious circumstances: he drove to the airport to meet his friend Pavel Sheremet, arriving on Moscow flight, and hasn`t been seen ever since. Newspaper "Narodnaya Volya" publishes an interview with Dmitry`s mother - Olga Zavadskaya.

Officials of the Belarusian district center Kletsk are troubled about the recent initiative of some information enlightenment center "Center of Europe", headed by a Oleg Nikulin, who launched a collection of signatures in support of the creation of an independent state on the site of the district, says Russian News Bureau.

Belarus underwent the reduction of economic development rate. Under the data of the Ministry for statistics and analysis, in January-February 2001 the gross domestic product in Belarus grew by only 0,6% as compared to analogous period last year. For comparison: in January-February 2000 GDP growth amounted to 7% of the Jan.-Feb. 1999 figure.

Alexander Lukashenko released a Decree "On some measures to sophisticate the order of receiving and using foreign humanitarian aid." Interfax reports March 14 from the Administration headquarters that the document reads that "foreign aid cannot be used for anti-constitutional purposes, seizure or overthrowing of the state power."

So far, they don`t know what caused the accident with the MiG-29 fighter, which hit the ground on March 13 in northern Peru. TV in Lima is coming up with new reports from the place of the tragedy, but official sources refrain from any commentaries as to what provoked the incident, says Reuters. "One of the local radio-stations said that the jet crashed over the rice field and the pilot managed to catapult," - reports the agency`s correspondent.

More adolescents suffer from hard-drinking symptoms in Belarus every year. Over the year 1994 police captured 19 thousand drunk under-age people, while in 2000 the figure amounted to 29 thousand. This statistics was voiced by the chief physician for alcohol and drug addiction of the Ministry for Healthcare Vladimir Maksimchuk at the March 13 press-conference in the National press-center.

Around 1000 personnel of the Minsk motor plant withdrew their memberships in the trade unions, as a result of the state-run experiment, so-called re-registration, commenced in January. According to trade unions` data, the procedures were originally initiated by the Administration of Alexander Lukashenko. One of the goals of the innovation was the complete annihilation of the plants` branches of the democratic trade union.
