MPs Reaffirm Commitment to Decree#8 Provisions 11:03, 26/04/2001
"It is prohibited to set up affiliates of foreign organizations on the territory of Belarus, whose activities are aimed at overthrowing or enforced changing the country`s constitutional order," - reads the draft amendment to the Civil code, signed April 25 by the "house of representatives". The amendments actually back the scandalous decree#8, which Lukashenko passed in order to prevent foreign support to the human rights NGOs ahead of the presidential elections.
Chair of the standing commission of the "house of representatives" for state order, local management and regulations Mikhail Sosonko admitted that the draft project was submitted for the parliament`s consideration on April 16 by the Cabinet of Ministers, urged by Lukashenko to ratify it in the shortest possible terms.
