Alarm over low level of social protection of medics was expressed by the chair of the Belarusian committee for healthcare trade unions Elena Belskaya during a June 12 press-conference. She claims that with average salary in industry amounting to 1000 rubles per hour, in medicine it is twice less – 521.
Meantime, stressed the trade unionist, the state lays greater demands to the professionalism of the medical personnel. “On one hand, physicians bear criminal responsibility for crimes against their clients’ life and health, but on the other they earn miserable wages, which do not reflect their position in the society,” – said Belskaya.
BelaPAN reports that Elena Belskaya drew the attention of the state to the necessity of mandatory state insurance for healthcare employees in light of the spreading socially dangerous diseases, including tuberculosis and virus hepatitis.
